Structure and functionality: two adjectives that are of paramount importance for both architecture and eyeglass frame design. Kengo Kuma, Japanese architect, and Portuguese eyewear designer Vava have embarked on a quest to combine these two fields in practice.
The capsule collection consists of 3D printed pieces made from castor oil. The CL0013 style draws inspiration from traditional Japanese architecture: these latticed structures are a common reference for Kuma’s architecture. The curving, interlaced frame of the CL0015 style meanwhile, nods to weaving as a building form.
